    The island Cuba is located at a sufficient distance from the main land. It has unique fauna and flora. In Cuba there are growing more then 6000 species of the plants. By the way flora of Cuba under the influence of human activities has changed not in a good way. If in the beginning of the XIX century forests occupied 90% of Cuba lands, now it covers only 19%. Woods are pushed away by the farmlands. Cone fields, citrus, mango, banana etc. are planted on these grounds. Despite the fact that Cuba is located in tropics, 43% of their woods- mixed forest, 31% - mango forest, 12% - coniferous forest, and only 1.5% - tropic forest.

Cuba Nature    Of course, the most popular tree is the symbol of Cuba- royal palm, reaching 30 meters in height. These trees are recognized by the Cubans as a “King of fields” by her divine shape, for an extraordinary height, opportunity for wide speared use in agriculture, as well as the fact that it is the most common tree on the island. The royal palm in Latin is called as Roystonia Regia Cook. Usually a palm reaches a height of 40- 50 meters. These palms are the source of inspiration for musicians and poets singing the prices for her. Palm flowers and fruits all year round. Also from immemorial times it been used by aborigines to meet immediate needs in animal feed, or as a source of constructing the walls of hose and roof.

   The presence of palm tree at a national coat of arms symbolizes freedom and independence of young Cuba republic, freshness and fertilities of their lands, wide use in agriculture.

   The national flower of Cuba- mariposa: beautiful wide flower with a strong odor, however in the period of struggling for independence had been a symbol of rebellion.

   The most widely represented reptiles of 2 species of crocodiles, iguanas, and variety of lizards, geckos, salamanders, and 15 species of empoisoning snakes. On a high, dry plateau, in eastern Cuba can be found some species of scorpions and big spiders. However mostly they are not dangerous for humans.

   Many species of birds, which are live here, are typical only for Cuba. First and foremost, it is a tiny bright hummingbird, which feeds like a butterfly with the flower nectar. National bird- tokororo. In its bright feathers are presented colors of Cuba flag.
