Cuba
Salsa and Chachacha, daiquiri and mokhito, aroma of Cuban cigars and hospitable people, caressing warm blue ocean and fine white sand - on hearing any of these words you will immediately recollect in your mind tempting images of Cuba. Country of contrasts: the last islet of Socialism in the New World, place, vividly described by Hemmingway, detonating mixture of people and traditions and customs multiplied with excellent secluded position and added with intriguing smells of Cuban Cigars together with famous mokhito and daiquiri - all this will impress and make a track in your soul. Having visited this country you are doomed to suffer nostalgia for it!
Having stepped down from the ladder you immediately get feeling that you are an international tourist in Moscow of old times! When all reforms have been already announced but are not realized. Cuba is the real proto-type of the old Soviet system. Great friends with the USSR Cuba adopted a lot from it! Such Soviet flashbacks are actual when you travel throughout Cuba. The main landmark of Cuba is its wonderful beaches with the finest sand. The sea floor is also sandy and the depth increases slowly. The water is so much transparent and blue that even 100 metres from the beach you can see your feet under water! Ocean caresses you with its always warm waveless waters. In the morning you can even observe small fishes that swim near the seashore and touch your legs. Be especially careful - enter the sea only in that places where you can see sand, in other places you have a chance to step on a sea-urchin - two weeks of pain are guaranteed. In autumn - the period of hurricanes - ocean may bring raptorial fishes close to the beaches, so take care! To be in Cuba and not to try the famous cocktails, about which Hemmingway wrote so much? Come the venue! El Floridita and La Bodeguita del Medio are worldwide known for making the best cocktails - mokhito and daiquiri. El Floridita specializes in daiquiri. What is daiquiri like? Well, it is a mixture, at first sight reminding children's apple puree but in fact it is crumbled into small pieces ice with other ingredients. Now imagine: heat is about 30'C outside, sun burns, the ocean water laps the shore and you are drinking the cocktail of rum, lemon juice, ice and sugar syrup. It is really ambrosial pleasure!
Come to La Bodeguita del Medio to try the nectar! Mokhito - soda lemon juice, rum, peppermint leaves and sugar - has different tastes from luscious sweet up to astringently bitter.
Come back to Cuba any time you feel nostalgia for it!
